BEING PEACE — Nonviolent Communication Immersion in Sintra, Portugal, 17–22 June 2027

A 5-day immersion in Nonviolent Communication to bring peace into the world we live in

17 - 22 June 2027, Colares - Sintra, Portugal

This is more than just a residential training - we will be living and learning NVC together, in community with the support of 4 certified trainers.

Grounded in the Nonviolent Communication (NVC) paradigm developed by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, this 5-day immersion offers a dedicated space to bring peace into your inner life and embody it within a vibrant community.

NVC will move off the page and into practice, giving you room to transform automatic communication habits, integrate core principles, and experience what happens when a group chooses to live compassionately together.

A lived community experience

Four trainers coming from very different contexts and backgrounds will bring you their own experience, a wide variety of real learning situations, and their own way of living NVC.

They share it with you through:

  • Interactive exercises
  • Case studies
  • Personal stories

Together, they give you a multi-dimensional understanding of the NVC framework.

You can gain

Better relationships

Trust grows when people can express difficult things without attacking each other, with empathy and honesty.

Increased self-awareness

It becomes easier to recognise feelings, needs, and what is actually important.

More empathy capacity

Seeing behaviour as an attempt to meet needs, rather than simply labelling someone as “difficult”, “selfish” or “wrong”, makes it easier to see the humanity in each one of us.

Less defensiveness

When we are heard rather than judged or evaluated, we have less reason to protect ourselves.

Deeper conflict resolution

Instead of negotiating positions like “I want this / you want that”, we can discover the needs underneath those positions and take effective actions to restore the relationship.

Greater personal responsibility

NVC helps us distinguish between “you made me feel…” and “something happened, and this is what I am experiencing.”

More authentic expression

We can say what we really think and feel without falling into aggression or defensiveness.

Compassion without passivity

NVC isn’t about being nice or accepting everything. We can have very firm boundaries while remaining connected to the humanity of the other person.

Marshall Rosenberg, founder of Nonviolent Communication

“When people can connect with what's alive in each other, that's a whole different world than judging one another as right or wrong, good or bad. It's been my experience that people then enjoy contributing to one another's well-being.”

Marshall Rosenberg, creator of Nonviolent Communication - from “Vision of the Future”

I am a CNVC-certified trainer, mediator, and expert in transformational processes, with a profound dedication to fostering Nonviolent Communication (NVC) worldwide. My journey with NVC began in 1998 and has continued to the present day, as I have been actively training and facilitating NVC programs across numerous countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. I spent more than 100 days with Marshall Rosenberg and am deeply committed to sharing what I learned from him.

My work in Kenya inspired me to co-create a fundraising platform to support certification candidates to offer NVC training and thereby gather the experience needed to become a certified trainer with CNVC.

You can connect with me and my work in a variety of ways, including those found here.

Rooted in a background in Physics, my journey began in scientific research before turning toward the human heart. As a trainer in Nonviolent Communication across diverse fields and contexts, I bring over 30 years in education and a decade as a Conflict Mediator, working extensively with both adults and children in high-tension environments. I've been a CNVC Certified Trainer since 2024.

Connecting NVC with spiritual practice allows me to go further and further inside, continually enriching the connection between the many dimensions of our existence. By bringing together scientific awareness, NVC, and spiritual knowledge, I support individuals, families, and organizations in moving past automatic patterns of communication and discovering a profoundly transformative, compassionate way of being.

NVC is my passion, and I continue to look for ways to make it accessible, yet deep. I love sharing it as a living, embodied experience that allows you to integrate its tools and philosophy more quickly into your everyday life. Going beyond the individual perspective, I am fascinated by the interplay between the personal, the interpersonal, and the systemic.

I am particularly excited by the possibility of befriending the full spectrum of human emotions and tapping into the fullness of our needs, so that we can act more from our wholeness rather than from a sense of deficiency. I see NVC as a powerful tool for supporting individual freedom and empowerment which, when carried into our families, communities, and the wider world, can contribute to creating a world in which we can all thrive.

I have been sharing NVC as a certified trainer since 2014 and have served as a CNVC assessor since 2022.

I work internationally, sharing NVC across cultures, including in Sweden, the Netherlands, India, Korea, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, and the US.

After spending the 2nd half of my life travelling the world, I'm gradually settling down - still working too hard, playing when I can, and living life as fully as my body allows; mostly in Portugal, Spain, UK and Ireland; often elsewhere.

I love to learn and share what I know; to support people in ways that last; especially skills in communication, collaboration, leadership, conflict transformation, as well as personal and relational healing.

To do this, I collaborate with many organisations, including as a certified trainer with the Centre for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC), Creative Director of HeartSpace Collective, and a member of the Cultural Catalyst Network (CCN), the School of Consent and Sociocracy For All.

I keep doing my best to make a positive impact - to take steps towards a world that works for all.

I was born in France and discovered my passion for adventure, travel, and exploring the world while working as a travel agent. This led me to Bangkok, Thailand, where I lived for 12 years, and later to Portugal, where I am now based.

In 2013, while staying at Amritapuri Ashram in Kerala, a walk and heartfelt conversation with a dear friend introduced me to Nonviolent Communication (NVC). Something in NVC deeply resonated with me, not simply as a way of communicating, but as a way of living with more compassion, curiosity, honesty, and connection.

Since then, NVC has become a meaningful thread in my life, inviting me to look inward with kindness, listen beyond words, and create deeper connections with others. I see it as an ongoing practice and a lifelong journey of becoming more present, authentic, and alive. Today, I am an NVC certification candidate, continuing to learn, practice, and share this journey with others.

Growing up in Croatia during a time of war, I faced a challenging environment both outside and within my home, along with a lack of quality communication in my family. This experience had a strong impact on my relationships and self-perception. Realizing the need for change, I discovered Nonviolent Communication through a book by Marshall Rosenberg, a gift from my yoga teacher. This encounter transformed my approach to communication, and I became a passionate advocate for NVC, sharing its principles and techniques with others whenever I could.

My dedication to personal growth and meaningful human connections is reflected in everything I do, making me a committed and inspiring advocate for Nonviolent Communication.
